Captain Marvel #4

Captain Marvel and the Carol Corps, Kelly-Sue DeConnick's Captain Marvel elegy, was all about expanding horizons, pushing onward, moving in new directions. Contrast that with the way that Fazekas and Butters have painted their Captain Marvel into a corner, tying up her past and future in a tense, chaotic knot, pushing and pulling her in several directions at once. Captain Marvel #4 keeps up with that escalation of events which in turn keeps us at the edge of our seats. It is all or nothing at this point and hopefully they don't let up on this great balance between character writing and plot development. Read Full Review

There are a lot of moving parts to Captain Marvel's first arc, from alien assailants to space subterfuge and everything in between. It's strange then that even with everything going on, issue #4 feels somewhat disconnected. Read Full Review

Everything about this issue is solid. Nothing groundbreaking but just solid and concise which is pretty awesome. Butters, Fazekas, Anka and Wilson do their jobs very well. The story is good nothing ground breaking I just can't wait for Civil War II to begin.

This is a funny and action packed issue, and it has a pretty solid cliffhanger ending. I love the art- the colorist on this book is really earning their paycheck on this book. Carol has a fluid/flowy way to her in a lot of this book, except for the panel where she looks like a Red Lantern, such anger. I really enjoy this book, and I hope more people are checking out this book!
