It's not clear when Steve will turn the corner after hitting rock bottom, because it's not clear how close he is to it yet. But, to be honest, after having everything he stood for called into question, some change and reevaluation is more than warranted. In Captain America #9, interest and quality correlate strongly with how close the story sticks to Steve Rogers. Inside his head and in the prison around him, things are fascinating. The same cannot be said for the more distant scenes, which use the new character Dryad to thoroughly upstage the Daughters of Liberty. The result is still a nicely above-average read, but the whiff of missed opportunities is pungent. Read Full Review

I somehow enjoyed this one better than the last few ones even though it's still the same inching of the same story which has been a negative on the side stories. Coates managed this script better for sure and had the right tension but he needs to bring in the side stories around better. The art is good by Kubert who's made better by Martin Jr. moody colors.

Really enjoyed this one, well-paced story without being too slow, though fleshed out just enough, giving the characters enough characterisation. Really enjoying this arc so far, can't wait to read more.

Not as good as previous, but still pretty good! I think this arc is very interesting and I like it a lot.

It was good but Caps cougar girlfriend going clubbing was weird. I love the feminist stuff but Coates is pretty damn cheesy about it. The Cap prison stuffs still good thanks to Kubert and the writing with Caps internal dialogue is great.

I liked this issue. But it didn't have that oomph some of the previous issues had. This is the first one of the arc that felt like it didn't have something to say. It wasn't bad, but I don't know, I came to expect something more from this title.

While not bad, some parts of this story just seem to go really slow and this issue is one of those parts.

THE GOOD: -I'm still fully on board with this storyline. -That opening scene with Alexa and Mr. Darin was great. -I love the credits pages for this story arc. So damn cool. -Adam Kubert is still killing it in every way possible. -That final scene was excellent. THE BAD: -I didn't enjoy this as much as the first two installments of this story arc. -Those scenes with the Dryad could've been good due to a heist-y prison break feel and strong characters, but ultimately came across as boring. -This issue kinda veered into a cliche prison brawl scene.
