Black Widow #10

Black Widow #10, continues Natasha's quest for redemption and atonement for her past and shows Natasha trying to save the people around her by offering them the choices she was never able to have. Black Widow offers an added layer to Natasha's character that universally speaks to readers, as she confronts the past she'd rather avoid. Overall, this is a fantastic story arc for our favorite spy-assassin, and though she put the brakes on romance for now, perhaps there will be more of James Barnes in her (and our) future. Samnee and Waid continue to do the work that needs to be done for telling stories to make a reader react like they just heard a disgusting bar in a battle rap. Black Widow is finally in her final form thanks to this creative team and the 616 universe is all the better for it. Read Full Review

This is a great issue. Chris Samnee is destroying the world on the art in this book. I loved the retro space ship Widow and Bucky take to the moon. And speaking of Widow and Bucky...I still pine for the days when they were a couple, and the interplay between them here was sweet. Not to mention that the children of the Red Room are terrible badasses. This is a damn fine comic book.

*SPOILER ALERT* Loved this. While the deaths of the Weeping Lions might seem cheap seeing as how they were set up as the main villains of this story and they never even got to have their final showdown with Natasha, I thought the way they each went mostly made up for it. Ilija's death in particular blew my mind (see what I did there?). Seriously...what an insane way to kill someone off! My jaw was on the floor. I loved the dynamic between Nat and Bucky here. It made me want to see more of the two of them. Waid should do a Bucky/Natasha centric mini with Samnee on art. It wasn't a perfect issue, but I really, really enjoyed it.

The last fight secene by being shredded apart is pretty tight. I like where this story is going. Too bad it ended that way for some people. I would have liked to see more. And the art of Samnee was very retro this issue I don't know what to think of it.

Wow so both Weeping Lions are dead now and Natasha never even found out why they hated her in the first place. It seemed like Waid had no plans for the Lions after the first 6 issues so he just killed them off to make Recluse seem like a more intimidating villain. Honestly the Weeping Lions were better villains than Recluse and they were guys you could actually root for. Lazy writing but good issue nonetheless

Unsatisfying. Hard to rate. Things are happening that make a for a significant issue but the art was not pleasing. It's great to finally get something to gnosh on about The Unseen but almost everything about this designed scenario for a house call to the moon was wanting. The cover was fun and it's important to have Buck/Nat interaction every so often but no mention of Thunderbolts or Man on the Wall was just added frustration.

When will I ever feel caught up? I'm still little lost, I missed almost all of the Weeping Lion stuff, so this still felt new to me. I did enjoy the interactions between Bucky and Natasha and I hope to see more of that in the future, though this issue made it seem like it might be awhile. There were some funny lines through this that I loved. I have one more issue before I'm caught up on my mini stockpile, so I'm sure I'll be sticking with this for a while longer. I'm hoping I'll stop feeling so lost eventually.
