MacKay's time with Felicia reaches a bit of a crescendo here that feels like it might be heading somewhere. Jed MacKay, Dike Ruan, and Annie Wu deliver the best issue of BLACK CAT to date. The dialogue is fun and witty throughout, sprinkled with some necessary introspection by Felicia. The art is solid, from the action scenes to the intimate setting of a mother and daughter at lunch. Simply put, if you want an entertaining comic, pick up BLACK CAT #8. Read Full Review

The comic touches on the larger themes of the arc including the kidnapping of the Black Fox through some flashbacks with Felicia and her mother, but the real fun is in the heist and the madcap action that ensues wherever the Black Cat turns up. Worth a look. Read Full Review

MacKay continues to keep my interesting in the new Black Cat series going. The writing for this issue was well done especially the interacting between Felicia and her mother as well as the ones between her and Danny Rand/Iron Fist. If the Beetle was added for some comic relief then it succeeded. The ending was a great fit for the upcoming war against the NY Thieves Guild.

It's great to see somebody pick up Kaare Andrews' "Iron Fist has a tween ward" ball and run with it. And speaking of moving balls, this issue feels like a series of tight running plays gradually building up yardage. Not as spectacular as a passing game, but more productive than four bad plays leading to a punt.
