It's okay, not a bad comic, but not a very exciting one either. I wish there was more time to show the chemistry between Spidey and Doc. Pin-ups with new Spidey villains (since annual #1) are cool, but there was not that many. Lazy Stan couldn't create new villains every month. The remaining 40 pages are just reprints, while the new story is normal sized. So technically, Spidey-fans of that time who never skipped a single issue just paid 25 cents instead of 12 for the new story... Stonks, I guess.

Not the best Spidy or Dr. Strange story. It’s cool to see them team up but the villain sucked. To many Dues Ex Machina moments just to get the plot to move forward. Still a fun read just nothing great.

I've fallen very far behind on ASM, but I definitely will get back on track... At the expense of these reviews. This is a pretty boring issue. There are some great visuals, but the story is overall very trite and expected. There are some ASM issues like that as well, but those are usually saved by the Peter Parker stuff. No such thing can save this annual because Marvel was trying to get ASM readers to read Doctor Strange, and therefore the issue focused a lot on him. It is not great. I don't really find silver age Doctor Strange very interesting. Too many stories end with DS out magicking someone with yet another new spell.
Quote of the issue: "We Said We Could Lick Any Man in the Place... And We Meant It!"
