This issue really likes to take its time establishing the new supporting cast, while still giving time to the old one... Minus Liz. The drama between Betty and Peter continues briefly, although we know it isn't long for this world as this issue introduces Gwen Stacy and Harry Osborn. This issue is almost entirely devoted to the overall narrative of the series rather than focusing on the villain of the month. Not to say there isn't a villain, Master Planner is an intriguing mystery... Or at least, he is if you've never read this story before. But it's still fun to have an issue that's using its cast to the fullest extent. Everyone had a role to play, with some being bigger than others, and that's legitimately great, in my opinion.

Great intro for Gwen, and Harry. Some nice build up of Master Planner. The pace is a little slow at times but overall the world building is nice to see as Peter shifts to college.

I wish there was a better villain, because these guys are really boring, but everything Parker-related here was awesome, Stan pretty much nailed the perfect formula for a good Spider-Man comic.
