You Don't Read Comics - Russ Bickerstaff
Jan 08, 2020Williams manages a balance between the Hollywood drama and the more traditional superhero-style action that feels more or less appealing. Theres clearly more than enough going on in Williams story to hold interest together for many, many issues to come. The problem is going to lie in keeping the action consistent without compromising the fact that at its heart, this IS a series about a Hollywood actress in a world of superheroes. Read Full Review

I thought this issue was a lot of fun, and any interaction between Pete and MJ is usually a highlight for me. Which is why, with the series getting extended, I'm excited for the next arc in New York. But this arc is cool too. I think the conversation between MJ and Master Matrix was a very necessary and good conversation, and I was extremely into that part. Oh also, Chase Magnett is still the worst critic in comics. "Let's give Amazing Mary Jane #4 a 2, but let me tell you, that Dark Knight Returns: The Golden Child one-shot was a perfect 10."

At this point this book is what it is. Its not what I expected and its nothing that great but, to me, it has a lot of charm and this was probably the best issue yet.

This comic's art is nicely refined, but it's a bit too much of a throwback to the "pose every woman in every panel in a cheesecake-y way; it's not like we've got female readers" days.
