Apr 17, 2019AGE OF X-MAN: NEXTGEN #3 isn't for everyone but if you like the occasional high school soap opera mixed with a surprisingly serious underlying plot, this one might just be for you. Although I do think the characters in NEXTGEN could become major players in the Age of X-Man world, I'm nearly certain Brisson is more or less just giving readers something entertaining that will help round out their understanding of Nate's strange reality. Apr 18, 2019Overall this is the highlight of Age of X-Man and a must read. This book continues to blow me away with how fun it is and ramifications are coming for certain mutant students and their actions, and I can't wait to see what they will be. Read Full Review

Apr 17, 2019Though it doesnt meet the potential of characters searching for truth in a world fabricated by authority, the drama in the third issue of Next Gen is engaging enough to keep the pages turning in another oddly enjoyable trip to the Age of X-Man. Read Full Review

Where as many titles in Age of X-Man seem adrift and meandering through less than thrilling plot this book has a great focus and direction. The art very much matches the narrative and essence of this title. For me it is the best of them.

This series has all the intrigue I want from the rest of these stories!

The students make and break alliances and Armor comes to the fore as the protagonist. Thoroughly engaging plot and art, and I really like the way the dialogue does good characterization while simultaneously exploring intriguing ideas about the AU.

THE GOOD: -This series is pretty good. I'm getting kinda tired of Age of X-Man, but this is definitely one of the better series. -The art is solid. Marcus To usually does a good job. -I like all these characters and the way they're written. -This issue does a good job of establishing itself in the Age of X-Man world with references to other series. -The ending to this issue was solid. THE BAD: -I've never been a huge fan of Ed Brisson, and I guess that's true of this issue for the most part. I like the characters, but the dialogue is plain and story is kind of boring. -I feel like the pacing here is a little slow, especially for a five-issue miniseries. Feels like it should be three.
