Witchblade #175is exactly the type of high caliber comic I look forward to reviewing. It represents a turning point for our heroine as it adds in a couple companion stories plus theWitching Hour. Both Braga and Rodriguezs artwork is coloured by Betsy Gonia and Bill Framer, and they really enhance the formers pencils – Gonia delivers an impressive job and Bill Framers colours are very solid as well, with a good mix that allows for an impressive result. All in all then, despite the minor problems with this book, Witchblade #175 is probably a newcomers best bet at jumping on the series. It comes recommended, to newcomers and old hands alike. Longtime fans of the series should be very proud to have stuck with it for as long as they have. After so many years and so many stories, Witchblade is just as beautiful and vital a comic as it was when it first kicked off back in 1995. Read Full Review

For some reason, this is just not what I expected this issue to be. After battle the Angelus and all that fun stuff for the fate of who controls the Witchblade I thought Sara would be back to her old habits, or something. Instead we get this crazy internal issue where Sara and the Witchblade have some choice words for each other. Read Full Review

Regarding the main story, I feel like we've done this dance before. It is handled fine, but I don't care for the way the Witchblade on it's own is portrayed here. I'd prefer it to look creepier and more feminine. The backup story with the Japanese Witchblade is okay and the art looks great. The backup narrated by Gleason feels irrelevant and is not particularly entertaining. I would have preferred a story here to branch the time gap between the current Witchblade and Tim Seeley's run. As a jump-on point, this works, but I can't imagine new readers would get psyched to open a subscription.
