The call of destiny appears to be too great for the Energon Universes most unlikely pairing with this latest chapter. Kirkman establishes a new direction with solid writing. De Felici, Delpeche and Wooten spotlight the pressure of the choices made while teasing something BIG on the horizon. VOID RIVALS #12 ends the second arc on a sedate note as Robert Kirkman plants plenty of seeds to imply big things are coming. The scenes play out well, and the overall narrative is interesting, but the issue generally lacks wow moments or a memorable cliffhanger. It's a good comic but a soft way to end the arc. Good solid story. I enjoyed the art and a lot of things wrapped up as this was more of a cool down issue (totally fine in my books). Also sets up a lot of the challenges that everyone is going to have in the next arc. I am excited to see where it goes! Also while I did feel like the final 2 1/2 pages were boarderline wasted due to all the 'blackspace' to hype up some unknown entity really did feel ominous. Like that feels like whatever that is there is going to be a shake up. I look forward to this all.

The story continues to be good, but the problem here is that there are so many wasted pages that there isn't too much of the story told in this issue. Solila and Darak say goodbye to one another and awaken something. The assassin has a moment with a kid, and the two kings play the blame game. That's it. It still baffles me that Kirkman would waste 4 pages of the comic for something that could have been told in one. Let's hope we have more progression next issue.
