Big Comic Page - Craig Neilson-Adams

On the surface, THE BEAUTY is a high-concept thriller about a virus that makes you beautiful, but scratch that surface just a little and you'll find a rich, multi-layered world filled with intriguing characters and complex moral dilemmas. Hurley and Haun are taking great pleasure in exploiting the potential of their million-dollar premise, and if the subsequent guest artists perform as impressively as Huddleston, this is shaping up to be one hell of an arc. Highest of recommendations for this one. Read Full Review

What I find most interesting about this issue is how it embarks on a journey to further flesh out what it is that this virus can do. The Beauty up until this point was giving a very police-centric, regulation-centric narrative, and now the game has changed. Timo and his story gives readers a glimpse into the ways in which even something bad can be manipulated into serving a positive purpose for someone else, granted in this case it's getting away with murder and stealing a bunch of cash. My initial surprise eventually lead to a pretty enjoyable experience. I like anthology style series that explore the same world, so I hope thats what Beauty is turning into. Because of this issue, Im more on board than I expected I would be. Id like to see where the series goes and how Haun and Hurley craft the story, as well as how they work with the shifting crew of art teams in subsequent issues. Read Full Review

Is it a one off issue??? I really really hope not. This is an awesome new arc. The whole fight scene is grotesquely grandiose. The art of Huddleston fit perfectly into this issue. Blood spewing every which way and the stomping is just perfectly violent. Haun and Hurley know how to tell a story. I can't wait for the beauty!
