Preface: I love Jeff Lemire, he is my favourite writer. Review: This finale fizzled for me. Felt like he kinda phoned it in, and there werent any big revelations. Last issue when he wrote the letter saying that the story just came to a natural conclusion for him, I thought OK and was expecting a really satisfying conclusion. In the letter at the end of this issue, he kinda re-states the same thing but then adds that at one point he had hoped to revisit Royal City for many years, but recently it felt like more restrictive than anything (I forget the exact words, but that was the idea), and this sentiment is what comes through in this issue. I feel like he is just letting it end, rather than this being some well formed conclusion. Still. more
