But Why Tho? - Collier "CJ" Jennings
Mar 25, 2021Radiant Black #2 builds upon the first issue, featuring challenges both personal and superhuman for its fledgling hero. With hints of more conflict between Nathan's civilian and superhero lives in future issues, I hope the creative team continues on this path they've set upon. Read Full Review

Mar 17, 2021Radiant Black continues to develop into a very good comic book series. I find most people like a good origin story and this is one I think lots of people will enjoy and even connect with. Nathan is a normal guy who can suddenly do extraordinary things and his journey towards heroism is turning into a fun and entertaining trip which I'm sure will have a few bumps along the way but I am 100% along for that ride. Mar 26, 2021Radiant Black #2 is starting to find its footing as it really starts to build this new superhero. The blend of grounded elements with the superhero action feels pretty good here and the art and colors from Marcelo Costa look great. There are a few hiccups in the comic but nothing too bad. The story ends up being surprisingly wholesome and mature with the main character and shows there are great things in store for this series and its hero. Read Full Review

Mar 17, 2021The action is big, but it's the evolving and at times tense relationship between Nathan and his father that acts as the book's foundation, and as long as that balance is maintained, Radiant Black looks to be a winner month in and month out. Read Full Review

Mar 17, 2021'Radiant Black' #2 continues Nathan's growth as a superhero with some familiar and enjoyable to read growing pains. The existence of someone else with similar powers provides some fantastic visuals as Nathan looks for answers. This may be all-too-familiar for longtime comic book fans who've seen these kinds of origin stories before but frankly, it's still very entertaining. 'Radian Black' is comfort food for the nerd soul. Jun 17, 2021Most issues slow down in issue 2 cause readership problems as writers cram in backstory or plot threads, keeping it crisp, clear and simple adds more here than some five or ten-issue series have so far. Oh, and the answer always is more raisins. Read Full Review

Mar 17, 2021Radiant Black #2 isn't bad at all. Unfortunately, Nathan is a bit of a depressing character. We see a bit of him coming out of that towards the end of the issue and hopefully that's part of what Higgins is going for. The comic is really well done, it's just a bit of a downer missing that escapist joy the spandex and flight brings. And maybe that's part of the point of it all. Read Full Review

Mar 18, 2021Radiant Black is most alive when it's reveling in energy-soaked action and wordlessly conveying emotion. Unfortunately, most of the issue bluntly hammers its points across in flat ways in both story and art. But there are enough bright spots to keep Radiant Black from being a lost cause.
