In 1962 Nevada, a nuclear bomb test goes horribly awry and unleashes a contaminate into the atmosphere that turns people rotten. Nerd Initiative - Richard Coryell

    Jun 25, 2025

This first issue does an awesome job of introducing the reader to the world and building up intrigue and suspense. Chris Condon shows once again why he is a master of Horror Comics with this original story. Giving the reader only what they need to understand what is going on, well being vague about where we are headed builds tremendous suspense. Between the unknown and the threat of what is to come the horror your mind builds up is palpable. Read Full Review

You Don't Read Comics - Russ Bickerstaff

    Jun 25, 2025

Much of the background of the issue takes the form of a top secret document at issues end. Theres also a menu for Old Joes at the end of the issue. Its a clever addition of atmosphere thats also echoes in the very stylish and moody webpage for the series. The site has a little bit more background on the series and a few ancillary bits. Theres a smart, little bit on that site that allows for readers to submit reports to the fictitious D.O.D. of the series for fan mail. Its every bit as immersive as the first issue of the comic book itself, but from a completely different angle. Read Full Review

Chris Condon proves his ability to craft all types of comics as he lays the ground work for what seems to be a distinctive horror series in News from the Fallout. The atmospheric story got me from the outset and didn't let go. Adding to the allure is Jeffrey Alan Love's haunting black-and-white artwork, which eerily pairs well with Condon's script. This first issue delivered a truly powerful introduction to the series, leaving me eagerly awaiting future issues. News from the Fallout is simply a must-read horror comic. Read Full Review
