Cold Spots #5

As final issues go this is very, very well done. It gives us a conclusion which, while dark and chilling, is still extremely satisfying, but it also leaves us desperate for more. There are many unanswered questions from this series, which is not a bad thing, and to my great delight, Cullen Bunn has confirmed that this will now be the first arc of an ongoing title rather than the miniseries weve had so far, so look out for the further adventures of these characters in the future. Bunn has closed this chapter of the story extremely well. Not everything is clean and there he's left open a world of possibilities for these characters and this world. Cold Spots reaches a conclusion with this issue, but it's clear it's just getting started. This opening arc is like an origin story for a world of terror that I can't wait to see explored further. It's a gripping tale that shows how far one man will go to save his daughter, even if that means facing down evil spirits from the afterworld ready to suck the life right out of him. So much for the 'slow burn'. The series rushes to its conclusion with vague promises of more one day.
