As I said before, this story was relatively self-contained, but there are many stories in progress in the periphery, and Layman really excels at piquing the readers curiosity with regards to strange messages from space, Soviet spies and -- if Im not mistaken -- vampires. Clearly there is a much larger story occurring here, but this issues ability to stand on its own, especially as a Part 2, has to be commended. When I get a chance, Im going to my comic shop to see about catching up, and I suggest you all do the same. Chew is a real gem. Read Full Review

After finishing this issue, I realized that in addition to the humor and the art, "Chew" has impressed me with its knack to stay ingrained in my head due in no small part to its unique stance on the comic racks. Truly, it's more of an aftertaste than an actual flavor. Read Full Review

The bar on this series is ridiculously high and, thus, I grade this book on a different scale from the normal books that come my way. It's an excellent issue and in many ways it reads like a one-shot so if you are new to the world of Chew you may want to pick this up and give it a try. You get a very entertaining read here that is literally different from everything else out there. I definitely recommend this book. Read Full Review
