Ultimately then, while its perhaps not necessarily essential reading in order to keep up to date with the ongoing story, this is still an absolute masterclass in character development, and features some truly jaw-dropping artwork. I've made it sound like the writing is of less importance this month. It really isn't.It's always really cool to see these characters punching flipping their way out of trouble. But it can be even cooler to see them display real emotion. Moments when art and dialogue comes together to make truly understand how they feel is special and #66 manages it in spades. TMNT Ongoing #66 is another great entry into this ongoing series. We get a great look into Alopex's character and what she has gone through being mind controlled by Kitsune. The art team of Campbell and Pattison is always a delight to have on this series and really makes these more "intimate" stories hit home. Alopex comes into focus and must literally learn to face her demons and figure out that just because she is a "loner" that certainly does not mean she is alone. The past few issues of this series have been great and I am definitely excited to see all of these characters continue to grow. Read Full Review

I'm psyched to bring Alopex back into the picture, she has become one of my favourite characters.Raph made a joke about being cold blooded, which got me thinking: are the turtles actually cold blooded? Technically, wearing winter gear wouldn't do anything for an ectothermic creature, your body needs to actually generate heat to insulate. Maybe the Turtles mutated to become endothermic. The inspirational speech was refreshingly blunt and in-character for Raphael, "You kick serious ass," that's all he needs to say, he and Alopex understand each other, they don't communicate well but they stand by their principles.

This series has a bad habit of being heavy on dialogue...like the moments of Raphael expressing why he loves Alopex would have been ok if they didn't drag on with so much wording. Love the art here tho even if it felt inconsistent at times. I good issue that stands alone well. Alopexs mind battle was a trip!

Raphael and Angel have tracked Alopex to Alaska, and have set out on a mission to bring her back home.
Alopex still is under the evil witch Kitsune’s mental manipulation.
Raph and Angel have bested by the harsh elements are getting lost in a blizard.
Raphael decides to try an Astral Projection technique that he had learned from his brother Leonardo, so he can use his spirit to find Alopex.
Kitsune’s mental attack becomes more vicious and severe, as she uses Alopex’s greatest fears against her. it is in a moment when Alopex is being overcome, when Raph’s spirit reaches her and gives her the moral support she needs to fight off Kitsune’s mental attack.
the scene plays out a little cheesy and predictable. there's never any real feeling of threat. and in the end it is all resolves pretty easily.

this was a significant issue for showing the Turtles have reached a level of spirituality to achieve Astral projection.
i believe this will come into play more-so as we get closer to the full confrontation with the Pantheon.

i like Alopex as a character, but i am really not interested in fan-service shipping.
save that for the Nickelodeon cartoons. if really i wanted to see that sort of thing i'd just go to DeviantArt. more
