Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #49 sets the stage beautifully for the series' landmark 50th issue, with there being some amazing developments along the way. All in all this comic is a fun read. There are a couple of hiccups here and there, but it does wrap up a few things that was going on in this series for the last couple of years. The art is great and the colours do make the art pop. Read Full Review

This issue had a lot of build up and a surprising amount of action too. It was well-balanced. There were noticeable changes in the art though and thought the Turtles didn't look so great when they were posing, but was fine and fluid when in battle. The Shredder still looked amazing though. The creative team has been building to this for a long time now and the payoff promises to be big. Rumor is that one or even more of the Turtles could die. It has a big final showdown feel for sure. If you're a TMNT fan and you're not already reading this series, then you're doing yourself a major disservice.  Equally appealing to die-hard fans and curious casuals alike, IDW's stranglehold over the licensed property market remains firmly in place here, and with a mouth-watering double sized 50th issue coming next month, there's never been a more exciting time to be a fan of this particular franchise. Issue #50 is going to be a slobber-knocker and it doesn't feel like either of the leaders are going to make it out of this confrontation alive. The poignant speech Master Splinter gives the boys about not wanting to die yet wanting the shadow of the Foot to no longer be cast over his children is moving and feels like the kind of thing that happens before a major player is removed from the story. Even if that feels predictable, it doesn't take away from the excellent story. "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" #49 is another solid installment of a series that delievers great story and great visuals month-in and month-out. Read Full Review
