Apr 01, 2020As a creative team, Douek, Cormack and Birch produced a flawless title last year, and there is no doubt in my mind that this is going to be another massive success for them. As first issues go, it doesn't get much better than this! Read Full Review

May 03, 2020Sea of Sorrows works like a pot of water on a stove in terms of its scares. It starts off slow with a few bubbles here and there and then before you know it, it's boiling over. I already knew to give the ocean the respect it deserves. I learned that from Jaws. Sea of Sorrows reinforces that feeling and adds even more reasons to stay on the land. You have to wonder if the treasure trove this crew is after is worth the bloodshed they will most certainly endure. Read Full Review

Mar 17, 2020Given my aforementioned lack of interest in horror books, I was pleasantly surprised to get caught in the swirl of this first issue. The ability of the creative team working together is on show with enough script and dialogue to direct the art which shows enough to warrant the need of less lettering, thus nothing distracts the reader from the whole experience. Nov 20, 2020SEA OF SORROWS #1 forces you to hold your breath while reminding you to be afraid of the dark. The art drowns you with a moody atmosphere, and the storytelling is brutally efficient. This is a must-buy for horror fans. Read Full Review

Nov 18, 2020Sea of Sorrows #1 is a solid debut delivering a period piece of horror. The comic is more focused on building tension for what's to come than deliver scares. It's a psychological angle than cheap thrills. Like Road of Bones', Sea of Sorrows #1 is a hell of a start and perfect for those who are looking for a cold frightening chill in these fall and winter months. Read Full Review

Nov 18, 2020Although the plot didn't hook me in just yet, I see incredible potential for a great turn down the line in the mini-series which should feel like a reward just as valuable as the gold the characters are seeking. The artwork is astonishing, to say the least and I hope it continues to mesmerize. Read Full Review

Mar 27, 2020While quite light on plot, the first issue of Sea of Sorrows sets up a dark, tense adventure, which I'm excited to see pan out. If you're a fan of historical horror, this is a title you might find yourself getting hooked to! Read Full Review
