Godzilla #1 is an extraordinary start to the Kai-Sei era at IDW Publishing. Between Tim Seeley's outstanding script and Nikola imeija fantastic illustrations, this debut issue is a thrilling kick-off packed with action and a bit of heart. Though I was a fringe fan prior to reading this issue, I feel Seeley and imeija have officially turned me into a die-hard reader now. Godzilla #1 (Kai-Sei Universe) kicks off an exciting new era of kaiju storytelling with strong visuals, a compelling twist on the Godzilla mythos, and a fresh international cast. It struggles slightly with shallow team dynamics and an uneven tone, but makes up for it with a complex start with many areas to explore. Read Full Review

Despite the conflicted coloring, fans of superhero adventures and classic Kaiju will find a lot to like in Godzilla #1. The focus on character is welcome, though there is plentiful action and giant monster combat as well. It seems that the new Kai-Sei Era is off to a fine start. Read Full Review

Bursting with tonnes of life and personality, this new iteration of Godzilla is a total joy to readeven if it could do with a bit more of the titular kaiju. Nonetheless, a solid start to what could be a really fun series. Read Full Review

The Comic Book Spot - Jack Stewardson

Godzilla #1 is a solid introduction to this new era of Godzilla comics. It's nice to see the "indies being able to compete with their big-two rivals. The art truly is stunning and the characters really pop, and most importantly Godzilla is awesome and does cool things. If Seeley and Cizmesija are able to sell me on Jacen, and if the lettering continues to improve, this may move closer to the top of my stack month to month. Read Full Review
