Aliens/Vampirella #5 is an easy comic to grade because it exists as something that's downright fun. This is not highbrow entertainment or the lowest common denominator between these two franchises, as the creative team instead creates something more than those basic descriptions. Aliens/Vampirella continues to be a fun series that it has me wanting more of, well, everything. A look at this future-world Vampirella and the social dynamics of it all, a look at the past with what the Nosferatu of old did to colonize Mars, and a look at the ancient race that existed there and their battle with the Xenomorphs. I likely won't ever get it, but I love a writer that seeds enough material to make you want more while giving you a strong enough core story. Bechko and Garcia-Miranda strike the right balance here and overall it's another solid entry in the series that leaves me anticipating the finale " and hopeful that the pair get another shot at either of these properties in the future. Aliens / Vampirella #5 continues a great horror tale with a number of excellent chase scenes, an absolutely gut wrenching emotional climax, and a never ending amount of trouble and danger that follows Vampirella. However, the book's pace slows down quite a bit as Bechko provides a ton of really unnecessary exposition halfway through the book. There are also a number of minor art mistakes that add up throughout the book, but it is still one of the best horror stories out there right now. Read Full Review

I'm actually quite fond of this ancient Nosferatu. I did not realize until issue #6 that she is female though, the artwork did not communicate that well, especially why she was still aged. It would have helped to adjust the dialogue in this issue to hint that she's female. This is an exciting issue, and the nosferatu does some cool shit.
