The writing is a bit of a mess for sure. All that being said, I see a clear through line in this story and stuff is finally making sense. The start of the issue is a lie, Zatanna detects that, finds the real villian behind it all. We also get why the White Lady is so salty (rightfully so), and we get the steps needed for the final big fight. This issue did all it needed to do, but it could have done it better. A better lead up would have helped. Really this story needed better editing. I blame the poor DC editorial for that. Amazing art as always. At least the stage is set for Zatanna and the big final showdown.

With only one issue remaining, I still can't tell you what this story is about. Some artists can write and some can't. This is definitely the latter. I'm continuing it purely due to the art. The demon tries to implant memories into Zatanna's head to make her think her father didn't love her. She visits her mother and walks upon the blue-line of a couple of comic pages.
