Wonder Woman #781

Wonder Woman is back on Earth and Wonder Woman #781 is quite literally a perfect super-hero comic. The villain plot is interesting and linked to a relevant theme both in story and in the real world. The issue is character focused and you care about the relationships. The various plot lines fit into the larger story that's being told. There's even a mysterious cliffhanger that dares you not come back for more. Shame on you for not reading Wonder Woman! Read Full Review

Cloonan and Conrad, now joined by Marcio Takara, continue bringing their A-game to Wonder Woman. This issue sets up several storylines while never losing my interest. Dianas return to the living pairs well with a tale of a new inductee leaving the realm of mainstream society to join the Bana-Mighdal. The twin features appear to be a solid step in the editors plans to expand Wonder Womans corner of the DC universe. Wonder Woman has had a wide appeal from a variety of different moods over the past 80 years. Its nice to see DC editorial looking to embrace more of those moods on a more regular basis in the months to come.  Read Full Review

This isn't a comic like any other post-hero return I've read, and it's answering some very interesting questions. It's also a complete departure from the run so far, which takes a little getting used to. However, these writers have done a great job getting us to care about this version of Diana, and sending her off on this bizarre new sidequest is an intriguing twist. Read Full Review

Marcio Takara is taking over the art of Wonder Woman for the foreseeable future and it'll take a bit of getting used to, which isn't to say his art is bad, I've just gotten too used to Travis Moore's Diana who has a very distinct look even outside of the costume. The New Arc is very connected to the last, which I like. Loose ends are being tied up but that's not all there is to it. I'm excited to see where Cloonrad are taking this story. Dr. Psycho doesn't seem to be the only bad lurking in the dark and I'm guessing Sigfried's grave will hold quite a few mysteries. As someone who has always been interested in the Bana Mighdall, I enjoyed the back-up far more than the Young Diana ones. Artemis too is a compelling character. Patridge's strong lines give the Amazons an appropriately fierce look and I think people that are picking up Nubia and the Amazons will find it interesting to compare how the different tribes welcome new members. more

A good start to the new arc. Never thought It'd say this but very much happy to have Diana back on Earth, some much needed attention finally going to Diana's supporting cast. Takara's art works well for the kind of villains Cloonan and Conrad are going for in this issue. Back up was a good intro to the Bana tribe of Amazons. Artemis has always been a favorite of mine, so nice to see her getting a chance to shine solo. If you read the first issue of the Nubia series, same writer, it reads as a contrast to how they bring in new recruits of Amazons.

I think so, Diana actually returns to Earth in the previous issue. Think the only thing you’d need to know is she and Steve Trevor are broken up

This is a very slow issue. If you're engrossed in the plot, it's no problem, but if you're kind of iffy on it like me, this will do little to change your mind.

With the terrible afterworlds ending one would think things get only better. And would be surprised. Cloonrad continues to destroy everything that was sellable in Wonder Woman franchise for... I don't really know what. Psycho, as much as he was always a piece of turd turned to a caricature. Even for him. His mysogyny stops working when it becomes a comical joke instead of serving a purpose. We know your message. We literally got it in almost every issue, even if it destroyed other characters. We do. Really. Wonder Woman continues to being rewritten. She might have stopped talking like a drunken Thor and killing innocent controlled sentient creatures like Black Adam on a bad day, but she still is written like a semi intelligent baby w ith temper tantrums by somone who never read a single issue of Diana. Asking people to lie for her? Being overly agressive like a Punisher who pumped himself full of venom? Can we get a reboot sooner that the end of next year? Diana didn't have a time to visit Steve, like wtf, that was dumb, and since hot male cakes is all that keeps this boat from sinking, he is back. Tension I guess. Good for you Steve. Art is splendid. That's why it isn't lower. But art is just a part of a successful comic. It generaly sucks as bad as this creative team. And judging by the infantile writing so will the Batgirls. Poor Case and Steph. Again, reboot and new team can maybe return this book to the mediocre level of sales she always had. Haven't seen out of character Wonder Woman since forever. Guess that what happens when half of the writing seems to be taken from the TikTok app. Terrible. more
