It's bittersweet to see Nicola Scott leave the title, but she at least is leaving on a very high note. Wonder Woman #14 captured much of Diana's character, from the way Rucka made her speak to her interactions with the various character to Scott and Fajardo's depictions of her heroism. Hopefully Scott will team with Rucka again on Wonder Woman, but for now this is an excellent send-off. Read Full Review

The team have done something which I feel has been a long time needed for Wonder Woman: they've created the story that speaks to the very core, the very essence of what Wonder Woman is. It's clear that the origin story in Wonder Woman #14has reached the moment where she's become the icon we're familiar with. It's a valuable insight into how the world embraced her, and how she earnt their trust. But just seeing her having drinks with the other characters and not spending all of her time with the Justice League is a breath of fresh air. This origin story works fantastically in telling the world's first reactions to the Amazonian. But it also works in brilliant tandem with the main story of losing her home, whilst also being able to stand on its own as a singular plot. Read Full Review

I enjoyed this issue even as it seemed smaller than the buildup that lead to it.  It's a mix of satisfying moments and rushed bits, but Nicola Scott's art makes it all look fantastic.  I liked this Year One finale more than the Lies one, but like that issue, I was left wanting so much more. Fun, but this Wonder Woman comic can be a bit inconsistent at times. I think that writing and art are both topnotch, but the tone feels weird at times. Happiness and sadness will flip rampantly in the same issue, but I do understand the setup for a Wonder Woman is not sure of her own existence.

"Year One" reaches it's conclusion, and Diana's confrontation with Ares is quite dramatic, though overall maybe things wrap up a bit too quickly for me. This issue is bittersweet, as it is Nicola Scott's last; her pencils are gorgeous here, and have been throughout the whole story. She was made to draw Wonder Woman. Sigh!

Comic Book Review (7/10) "Good" Wonder Woman #14 "Year One Finale" Writer: Greg Rucka Penciller: Nicola Scott Plot: Ares, the god of war, has attacked an American base seeking the knowledge to the location of Themyscira. However, to Ares' surprise, it seems one of the consequences of leaving Themyscira was losing the knowledge of the location of the Amazonian home. Can Wonder Woman defeat Ares and contain the poison that makes men and women belligerent? This feels like a very rushed finale to a 7 issue story arc, and it feels like Rucka was trying to wrap everything up by this issue and the issue feels rushed as a consequence. After the fight with Ares, Diana proceeds to contain the "poison" that makes people want to war in several co untries. I would've preferred if the search for the poison was a bit more elaborate and well done, but it felt very generic and anticlimactic. The whole international search wrapped up in a few pages! Scott's beautiful art elevates this mediocre ending to this story arc and I have to say that Perez' Ares run feels more epic than this story arc but at least we get Scott's beautiful art one more time before she moved on. more
