Interesting issue about an argument that due to the art and how the dialogue gets framed comes off beautiful and endearing. It’s really cool with the thought of being on an Alien planet Mars. Great stuff.

This issue again has so much going on and often Moore can thread the needle to make it work fantastically, juggling the concepts and messages he is trying to convey with the allegory that he is simultaneously trying to create, all leading to the impact and convergence of ideas at the end of the issue. Compared to most of his contemporaries, this issue is brilliant, but compared to the other issues in this series, it misses the mark for me, just slightly, and only because he has done it so well, time after time. Also we got two Dr. Manhattan issues before we got a single Ozymandias one??

While I do like this issue, I will address my three main critiques before talking about the positives and what I liked about this issue, because I think its a must that I talk about the critiques before I give this very good issue any praise. The are 3 main critiques I have. 1: The laziness in Coloring, like holy crap, last issue there was a bunch of miscolorings, and this issue too! I understand Alan Moore was difficult on his artist, but some of these miscolorings are so crazy they just frustrate me a lot. 2: Retcons, you can say whatever abt the Comedian being foreshadowed to be Laurie's father, but me? I didn't really buy it till now. Like yea, this issue was set up for this reveal, but it also did a whole bunch of stuff outside of the plot to the characters, like giving a reason why Sal broke up with her husband due to Sal cheating on him with the Hooded Justice, and making the Hooded Justice gay, and the Lewis drinking problems starting earlier. Like these are fine, but I just find it annoying so many retcons happened in this issue. 3: Now listen, during the time they couldn't have known this, but some retroactive stuff abt sperm stuff has been found out, and some of the stuff Dr. Manhattan says just..I mean it makes sense, but yea...I don't know, it just feels strange. But yea tho, some of the things like he talks abt with Time and stuff, as we get a modern science understanding, may be incorrect. But yea tho, that is a nitpick, and I have some more nitpicks in this issue, like how they handle Watergate, like...Dude, Nixon and his administration didn't know beforehand abt these reports and what was gonna happen, and bro he did such a good thing a panel before abt Al Haig...Like I don't know, its such a contrast, Alan understands politics greatly till he don't. Other than that, wow, the characterization and development this issue? Alan been cooking for the previous 2 issues with character development, and man he did a great job here too! Seriously, I'm very happy with how he's developing these characters of his like Laurie and Dr. Manhattan, and while I did criticize the Retcons earlier, please know that isn't a full negative, because they were placed and written into this issue pretty smart. But yea tho, this issue is REALLY good, and these flaws are needed for the greatness of this issue to be well...So great. I'm very excited to read Issue 9 now! more
