Pure art, and in the age in which we can go online and see endless atrocities and the anger and hate this breeds for one another, it is more relevant than ever. You stare into the abyss, and it stares back.

Honestly, I wanted to rate this issue higher, like I may have rated this issue a 9/10, because of what that one sequence did for Rorschach like....I'm sorry, but that moment was lowkey awesome, no spoilers obviously but once you read this issue, you'll see why I feel this way. Sadly, this issue if plagued with many problems, and this sequence is the only saving grace from not making it a score that's any lower than this. The prisoners were 1D characters, which its a comic so its more of a problem of the format than anything else, like the prisoners didn't need to be complex characters so this is a very minor nitpick of mine. The psychologist stuff was good, but then again it just felt a little extra ngl, like whenever I see someone make som e strong or edgy OC and give them accomplishments like this, like it feels like the only reason this happened to the psychologist in the plot is due to plot and not the actual character affecting him like that, even though its pretty obvious whats happening to him and why. Finally, my biggest critique...The racial slur, and I'm sorry but I seriously don't understand how anyone could defend Moore for putting some dude who just randomly screams the N-Word Hard R out of nowhere like that? In shows like the Wire and Snowfall, it makes sense and they don't just say it out of the blue. In this issue, it just felt out of nowhere and only to be used for shock value, which I consider to be a pretty terrible thing. So yeah, if it wasn't for that amazing sequence with Rorschach, this issue may have been in the 60s due to how flawed this issue is. more

Not really a bad issue and I get why to get so into Rorschach as a character but I don’t buy the physiatrist falling into despair over it. Again a kind of nihilistic view is going on with Moore here where I feel as an author he’s kinda eating his cake too here. It permeates a lot of his work. He wants to knock us but he’s the pessimist here. I do like that a comic can bring up these conversations but I don’t know it makes it entertaining or nessarily great or as here rather average.
