Haven't read this issue, but will. I agree with your comments. I started reading comics with Claremont's run on the X-Men and the depth of story telling is so much greater than current books and a lot of comic movies are based on story lines from the older story telling style.

Comic Book Bin - Deejay Dayton
Mar 08, 2017Its really only the final page that puzzles me. I am certain that at least part of my confusion is intentional, and I trust Jimenez to explain it all in time. So far this book has vastly exceeded my expectations, and I see no reason to think it will not continue to do so. Read Full Review

The Beat - Kyle Pinion
Mar 08, 2017While the Superman line is easily the "most improved" of the entire DC Rebirth relaunch, I feel like Phil Jimenez's work on Superwoman has flown under the radar. This little tale of Lana Lang and her dangerous powerset and the emotional toil it takes on her already existing personal demons has proven to be one of the most compelling DC titles offered. Mar 09, 2017Superwoman #8 may be this week's best looking comic where nothing happens. That may not be a nice assessment, but it is true. Almost the entire issue takes place within the mind of Lana Lang, whose real story is playing out in the Superman Reborn crossover. Read Full Review

DC Comics News - Duke Harrington
Mar 08, 2017But, now Jimenez is gone, with future issues to be written by Kate Perkins. I assume the writer change is permanent. It might be interesting to see where this series goes from here, for however much longer it lasts, given its place near the bottom of the sales charts. I half wonder if Jimenez' meta-textual commentary this issue might have been a parting shot. Are BIG changes in the wings for this series? We'll have to wait and see, but with the coming prince increase to $3.99, something will have to change in order for me to stick around much longer. Read Full Review

Mar 09, 2017This issue brings improvements to the Superwoman series, but it still feels like the reader doesn't have enough information about "Superman Reborn" and the DC Rebirth mystery to fully enjoy the story. Read Full Review

Weird Science - Dillyn Chadwick
Mar 09, 2017In the end, Superwoman #8 is all over the place. The story is confusing, the art is inconsistent, and I didn't have any fun. Sure, it's better than all seven previous issues, but that's not saying much. It's average at best, and that's being very generous. That generosity is coming from the fact that I didn't hate this issue as much as I hated past issues. Read Full Review

Supergirl Comic Box Commentary - Anj
Mar 14, 2017What I do know is that this issue was a fitting capstone to this arc. I was kind of lost. I thought it was kind of preachy. I still don't know when all this is happening in the current world. In some ways, I am happy this book is moving on. I can't help but be disappointed, especially considering the way it started. All that said, K. Perkins comes on as writer next issue. So I am excited for this book moving forward! Read Full Review

Mar 15, 2017In attempting to stuff too much story into too short an issue, the latest installment did nothing well and fell far short of its ambitions. Read Full Review
