Superman 78: The Metal Curtain #5 continues the story well and escalates the conflict. While there isnt too much action in this issue, it shows how the kryptonite radiation has caused Captain Nikolaev aka Metallo to descend into madness as well as how the Russian citizens respond to Superman based on the propaganda they read about him. Next issue we will see the final confrontation between the Man of Steel and the Steel-suited man! Read Full Review

Superman 78: The Metal Curtain #5 has some pretty great Superman moments, especially towards the end of the issue as Superman heads to Moscow to deal with Metallo, here we see him get a taste of the propaganda that they have shared about him and he sees just how ruthless and undignified Metallo really is. There is an undoubtable charm to Superman '78 with cartooning that captures the essence of performers from Superman: The Movie and dialogue that effectively imitates the understated humor and warmth of Richard Donner's films. Yet the languorous pacing and lack of tension surrounding Metallo's threat leaves The Metal Curtain lacking even in contrast to earlier comics adaptations. Read Full Review

A great penultimate chapter to this great story. It really captures the spirit of those times. Venditti has proven once more trough this series that he is one of the best Superman writers of modern times. I look forward to the conclusion.
