The story is okay for H'El, but better for Jor-El. The visuals are great, but I expected a villain and got more of a supporting character. Read Full Review

HEL is a extremely well written and drawn issue. Scott Lobdell and Dan Jurgens put together an excellent story with superb art. This book will catch readers of guard with how good it is. Pick it up while you can. Read Full Review

Fun read if you are interested in where he came from, however the ending causes some questions about how Superman is still around in the New 52, which lowered the rating. Read Full Review

So go ahead and save yourself the buck and buy the regular cover, because this issue leads directly into the next Superman family-wide event. Lets hope that this one does better than the HEl on Earth storyline last year. I have faith in Lobdell and company to make this the true Superman crossover event that I know they can deliver. Its about time something happened in those books. Otherwise, whats the point? If you cant do your flagship character right, why even reboot to begin with? Hopefully this is the story that shows me why they found it necessary to negate years worth of story. Needless to say, Im sticking around and for the first time since the introduction of the New 52, Im excited about Superman again. Read Full Review

Anyway, I suppose there's a chance that, 20 years from now, somebody could reinvent this guy to be cool, as current Scarlet Spider books are doing with Kaine, but it's going to take a couple of decades to imagine a way to do that. Step 1: Ditch the Butt Cape. Read Full Review

The artwork alone is not enough to save this issue. In a month filled with innovative and terrifying villains, this one is an obvious pass. Hopefully HEl will be given the arc he deserves in the future. Read Full Review

This was a very poor issue that has taken away some of the excitement that I had for the upcoming Krypton Returns crossover. It did however have some amazing artwork by Jurgens, as well as a half decent story, though overall it didn't quite work with the Villains Month concept, focusing too much on Jor-El rather than H'el, also being more to much of a set-up issue. Given all this I'd not recommend getting this issue, and that only people who are going to get Krypton Returns should consider it. Read Full Review

But the story itself? Absolutely ridiculous. And I'm saying that having read comics about dinosaurs with jetpacks and a man who commands a pack of wrestling bears. At least those were entertaining. This comic is not only confusing, but it commits the cardinal sin of any form of entertainment: it's boring. The only remotely interesting part is the twist at the end, but that is more likely to make you rage quit reading comics than buy the next issue. Read Full Review

Superman #23.3 is a terrible issue. While the art is good, the plot is convoluted and boring. The twist ending sets up the upcoming event, but I dare you to try to get that far without throwing this book out the window, into a fire, under a bus... Read Full Review
