Red Lanterns #40 is a good send off for the series. It wraps up some loose ends and sets up for Guy's next adventure. Besides the lack of other Red Lanterns and never seeing what Atrocitus is doing, it was still a good story and worth existing in the Lantern Universe. Read Full Review

If you would have asked me a few months ago who my favorite human lantern was, I would have answered differently than today, because now I'm a massive Guy Gardner fan. This series as a whole has given him more character than he's had in years, and this issue really just puts a nice little bow around the full package that is the Red Lanterns. This book is a great way to end the series and I would suggest that anyone who is a Lantern fan to check this book out. Guy really is the superhero he so desperately wants to be, he just didn't realize it until the end. Read Full Review

J. Calafiore's harsh, jagged style is less suited for ordinary human characters like Guy's sister than it is for the more outlandish Red Lanterns. Calafiore seems to tone down that style a bit in the final page or two, but perhaps he should have applied that approach on a wider scale. Read Full Review

Red Lanterns #40 is hit or miss depending on how you look at it.  As a personal journey Landry Walker leaves Guy Gardner in a better mental state that he's likely ever been in, perhaps at peace with himself for the first time in his troubled life.  However with a more pragmatic view there are plenty of things that leave me scratching my head and get in the way from fully embracing the book's conclusion.  Three out of five lanterns. While I've loved the Red Lanterns for a long time now, this finale decided that it wanted to take everything that I loved about Guy Gardner as a Red Lantern and throw it away with a clip show of Guy's latest and greatest hits and an ending that doesn't make much sense to me.  Landry Walker was put in a tough spot when he was hired onto this title and even though I don't care for this ending, I would have really liked to see what he would have done if it had continued. Everything comes to a head in this, the most intense psychology session ever! Walker did alright in the shadow of Soule, but I do wish Soule could have rounded this series out. It's an alright ending, but could have been a little less formulaic

What started out as a good series with Milligan ends as a disaster. I hope Red Lanterns gets another chance again someday.

Final issue, probably because they made a boneheaded decision of putting Guy Gardner at the helm instead of Keeping Atrocitus in, making him bad ass and powerful like he should be, and having them wreak all sorts of havoc throughout the universe. This is a prime example of fanboyism Destroying what could have been a great story. Guy Gardner is lame Af. Atrocitus could have been on par with some of the best super villains anywhere. But its obvious the writers of this Comic Are horrible, and shouldn't be put anywhere near A pen and paper, Or a keyboard for that matter.
