I enjoy Bernard Changs artwork. I think it works very well on the title, moreso thanprevious artists in that Chang (and Maiolo) give Bludhaven a polish that all the neon and glitz requires to convey a better sense of place. Sometimes Changs work reminds me of Howard Chaykins, but never so much that he appears to be imitating Chaykin. Perhaps merely an influence. Read Full Review

Nightwing #38 continues the steady rhythm Humphries is getting into with Dick Graysons comic. Each issue gets better and better, and hopefully that trend will continue. This comic gets a recommendation. Pick it up. Read Full Review

Overall, this has been a really great story arc and I love the way that Chang and Humphries (Uncanny X-Force, Green Lanterns) have constructed the story. Despite some issues with it, I really appreciate the way that Dick want to be on his own and create an identity for himself outside Batman's shadow. This has been a really fun joyride, full of unexpected twists. I can't wait to see if and how Nightwing is able to get himself out of this. Read Full Review

An improvement on the previous installment's flashback, Nightwing #38 returns to the quality storytelling we received initially. Unfortunately, the damage of that flashback issue lingers a bit here, and a combination of too many focuses and improper emphasis muddle what could have been a great issue. Sam Humphries continues giving readers a poorly paced story that is low on answers in the attempt of being cool and mysterious.  The Judge has been a thorn in Nightwing's side for years so why after a handful of issues do we know so little about him?  The art in this issue is good, but I am already hoping Humphries next arc is good because I've just about given up on this one. Well written and fun. Pieces connected together nicely with good set up and connective tissue to the other issues. We get to see why and how Svoboda was effected by the Judge. And the scene with Guppy was sad and devastating. You expected Nightwing to save the day just in time, but he didn't. And Nightwings monologue there, "if I think about him too much my vision blurs and a lump grows in my throat." Great and timely writing. Dick sneaking in as a dancer even fit. It was tied together nicely with his cross fit gym. And Dick not keeping the money was a nice touch. I was shocked with the Jidge having no eyes as well. Curious about his abilities still. It had a Dare Devil type of Vibe to it. And the wrap around to the limousine gang was nicely done. Great art! And I'm excited for the next issue. As happened in the preview issues, the art is very good, one of the best this title had in the Rebirth era. But the story and the character characterization, in my opinion, are not going well. One thing that is really bothering me in this arc is that Nightwing is suing absolutely nothing of the arsenal/resources he has in his costume. The costume (that is bullet proof and impact resistant according to the character´s lore), seems made of paper; Also, Nightwing is a master tactician, and that isn´t being properly used. Humpries is a good writer, but I think he should study the character a little more.
