Comicosity - Matt Santori
Feb 01, 2017A beautifully bloody and endearing battle through hell for DCs best power couple, Midnighter and Apollo #5 does far more than simply excel in its penultimate chapter. It shines under Orlando, Blanco, and Fajardos handiwork. Time for fans to find the drive inside us all to fight as well fight for more of these lovers, their battle, and our enjoyment. Feb 01, 2017Midnighter and Apollo #5 takes a feeling I've been feeling for the past two weeks and puts it into words in a way I never could. Between that, and luscious, red and gold-toned art, this might be my favorite issue so far. Read Full Review

Feb 01, 2017If there's one critique I might level against this series, it's that Midnighter's headstart against his boyfriend in the characterization department has only continued to increase since the first issue - for a title called Midnighter and Apollo, the latter character still doesn't feel as wonderfully defined as his dark, brooding and witty counterpart. But if having too much Midnighter is the worst complaint I can give, I think this book is still in the running for one of the best superhero titles of the week. Read Full Review

Feb 02, 2017Midnighter and Apollo #5 remains one of the strongest series running right now, but if the promise of Midnighter punching the devil in the face wasn't enough, this week's issue features an added bonus as Warren Ellis takes to the backmatter to discuss the upcoming WildStorm imprint. Come for the punching, stay for the WildStorm. Read Full Review

Feb 01, 2017Steve Orlando continues making this book a great read. I am fully invested in Midnighter's quest to save his love and now that the tables have turned, I may be more so. The art and story are really good and even if you weren't a New 52 Midnighter fan, I think you should check this out. Read Full Review

DC Comics News - Derek McNeil
Feb 01, 2017This issue, in which Midnighter apparently defeats Neron only to find out it was for naught, is the perfect setup for Apollo and Midnighter's final showdown with the Prince of Lies. I will be eagerly awaiting the next issue to see that epic confrontation. Read Full Review

Feb 01, 2017Applause to Orlando for taking a character I knew nothing about and honestly kind of dreading reading, into one of my favorites! Read Full Review

Feb 02, 2017At this point readers just have to accept that this series, despite its name, doesn't offer much in the way of Midnighter and Apollo actually interacting. It's a little too direct a continuation of the previous Midnighter book in that regard. But writer Steve Orlando does highlight the strong love that unite the two heroes, even if Apollo himself shares but a fraction of his lover's page time. Read Full Review

Feb 03, 2017Not the strongest of Orlando's Midnighter saga, but still a solid second-to-last chapter for those who have been following along so far. Read Full Review
