Justice League #71 is better than its going to get credit for. Bendis, Hester, and Gapstur do a great job with their story, V and Kumar masterfully take their bow, and Fajardo Jr. adroitly colors it all. Team books dont get much better than this. Read Full Review

Brian Michael Bendis' Justice League run is coming to an end in a few months, and it's hard to say what the main thrust of it has been. That continues this issue, as the heroes go up against the Royal Flush Gang, which has managed to steal the Fortress of Solitude. It is moments like this and the one above with Naomi that shows how this lineup could have been a fun one to keep around.  So as sometimes happen, I have to let the plot sort of wash over me and instead concentrate on the character beats that really hit home. I have to think of the fantastic art, the way it perfectly complemented the words. And I have to remember we saw Supergirl in a DC book acting as a compatriot.  Read Full Review

Justice League #71 shows a distinct improvement in the main feature. Hopefully, Bendis will continue to improve, as he won't have Ram V's Justice League Dark backup to carry the series anymore. On the other hand, now that the series' cancellation has been announced, perhaps the point is moot. Ram V's last Justice League Dark story merits a full 5 out of 5, but the main story's writing brings the overall rating down. Read Full Review

Justice League #70 surprised me after succeeding in making the Royal Flush Gang an actual compelling threat to the League, but it seems that wasn't meant to last. Issue #71 quickly reveals that whatever threat they posed has been dealt with, and while I did enjoy how Brian Michael Bendis, Phil Hester, Romulo Fajardo Jr, and Eric Gapstur brought the fallout from their actions to life over the next several pages, it was a bit deflating to see them put down so quickly. Hester delivers some good art in the issue. While the small moments teasing better stories were visually interesting, the rest of the art mainly consisted of the characters talking instead of doing. Read Full Review

It's going to be a genuine shame to see theJustice League Dark team leave, but they could be writing the nextTo Kill a Mockingbird and it still wouldn't make me recommend this book. Justice League has been a directionless mess since before Bendis began, and while I don't think killing the team off is the way to make this book interesting again" well, anything's better than the state it's in right now. Let's hope it picks up in its final issues, because right now, I'm excited to be done with these reviews. Read Full Review

Well, at least we have the JLD backup for now and while the backup didn't give us much progression, the way that we dealt with what's going on in the story so far was done in a way that looked great and narrated interestingly. As for our main story..... there's really nothing there and there hasn't been anything for a long, long time. What should be DC's flagship book is losing all credibility with each issue. This issue of Justice League is not good... which I'm sure is very surprising to anyone reading this. I wish I liked it, I really do. It's just poorly paced, the dialogue is bad, and there's this overwhelming sense that none of this matters knowing we've got three issues of this run left, and the issue after that kills off the Justice League. At least it's ending the book, anyway. The backup is fine, but I've really lost interest in Ram V's run since the backups started. It has just felt like each chapter ended before it could really get going. This last one has some nice moments, but I just don't really care.

This was my first modern Justice League purchase in a while. The story was short and dull, the art was just flat, ganky, and uninspired. No life or passion in anything here. basically I read it and felt an overwhelming sense of "who cares." I certainly won't purchse #72 based on this low level of quality.
