Hellblazer #22

The art is still top notch, with wonderfully dark scenes and black tones accentuating the vicious gore. Nergal and the rest of the old school demons are faithfully recreated with their own unique spin to fit into the style of this new universe they find themselves a part of. All of this comes together to give me the feeling that Im reading a classic Ennis Hellblazer tale. The mix of London, gangsters and monsters fits like a glove for Constantine and I can tell that this tale is ramping up to a great finale. Read Full Review

All in all, The Hellblazer #22 just didn't do it for me. Like I said up top, I'm a fan of Tim Seeley and I really hope this series gets better. Otherwise, I can't justify keeping it in my monthly pull box. And hey, if this doesn't work out, DC should just give Seeley a The Huntress series to write. She's shown up in both his run of Nightwing and The Hellblazer now, and Seeley knows how to make her interesting. Read Full Review

John Constantine and the Huntress continue to be nowhere near the relevant action, as a demon chats it up with some souls about how much he hates John. Essentially, another placeholder issue in a bloated, six-issue story arc. Sigh. Read Full Review

I agree that it is good to see old canon acknowledged and brought back, but everything else in this was a chore to read. DC needs to give Hellblazer one of their A writers.
