Hellblazer #20

This is a great issue; it's the first one that I've genuinely enjoyed. The story puts the characters in an interesting place that I like. There is legitimate tension and I care about what's happening to these characters. The art is solid especially on the character models and how they're framed. Tim Seeley's return in The Hellblazer #20 is off to a good start, as he brings a more superhero sensibility to Constantine without losing what makes him work " namely, weird, gothic, British horror. Read Full Review

Like I said before, this series has a strange sense of different genres shifting back and forth. You have the gumshoe supernatural feel of John while the police and gang element of London reminded me of shows like Luther or Anna Friels Marcella. And, with the addition of Huntress we have a solid grounding in the larger DCU, and a nice little reminder its all happening in the same world. It shouldnt really work but it does somehow, and after the climax of this issue the only way is up with more action and insight into John certain to follow. Read Full Review

John Constantine moves closer to finding out what happened to Margaret Ames, even employing an old flame to do so. Unfortunately, it reads pretty dull. This might be owed, in part, to the particularly bland artwork. Or maybe the day-to-day of a hipster mage isn't all it's been cracked up to be. Read Full Review
