Its story is intense and exciting, its characters and villains are interesting, twists and surprises will keep you coming back for more, and the artwork is some of the best in the business. Secrets are explained, new alliances are formed, and the tension builds. Lemire's plot remains both gripping and exciting, but Sorrentino and Maiolo's artwork is simply out of this world. Green Arrow 28 is a fantastic read that can be a tough read for those expecting a more traditional reunion. But thats what Lemire and Sorrentino have done throughout their run with the character. They dont do what is expected or traditional, which is refreshing in a comics climate that likes to rehash the familiar. Green Arrow is at both familiar and new, always making for a great read. Lemire is building quite a story with Outsiders War and, now with the big reveal that his father is actually alive, I can't wait to see what's in store for Ollie and Co. Will Ollie learn to accept what his father has done to him? I surmise that, whether he likes it or not, Ollie will need to enlist the help of Shado and his father to defeat the Outsiders. And, as a fan of the ArrowTV series, I couldn't be happier to see Dig make his appearance in the comics! Read Full Review

There is little to complain about with this book. The only faults are minor; Sorrentino's art hadsome confusing moments, and some may find Lemire's writing too formulaic. However, if readers arewilling to look past small details, they will find an excellent comic book experience awaiting them. Read Full Review

If you can get past that caveat, however, Lemire and Sorrentino's latest arc of Green Arrow is a fun, ambitious story that tries to show off previously unknown depths to the Emerald Archer. Right now, Ollie himself hasn't show his hidden potential, but Lemire is relying on changing the world around him to make his point. Final thoughts: the reveal of Onyx as the leader of the Fist Clan is cool although changing her ethnicity (coloring mistake?) definitely isnt. And now that the “Outsiders War” is half over, I am wondering when we will get to the actual war itself? And Im left wondering what the seventh clan is, and when they will be revealed. Green Arrow #28 is definitely a tease for all of this but it serves on its own as a good issue. Read Full Review

Lemire has all the elements of a sharply original Green Arrow story working here, and it is entirely possible that they will wrap up in a future issue. For now, there are far too many moving parts for this to be enjoyable, detracting from the core of the character and altering the essence of a hero that has always been defined by his ability to make (and break) his own destiny.
