GRAYSON #19 is a definite must-read for hardcore fans of the series since it ties a knot on some long running story arcs before Dick returns to his Nightwing identity. Revelations abound in this issue as Maxwell Lord lets the cat out of the bag and Dick learns the shocking truth regarding one of his closest allies. It all looks to come to a head in next month's concluding issue, which I can only assume is the ending King and Seeley originally ended. Read Full Review

If mad scientists, world domination, and dramatic double-crosses are your thing, you could do worse than go down the path Grayson is grossing now. It may not be as phenomenal as it has been in the past, but it's still enjoyable, so appreciate the title and its stalwart hero for what it is instead of wallowing in what it was. Lanzing and Kelly were called on to end this series and get it to Rebirth and while they will certainly get that job done, I can't say it will be in style.  People are always saying to enjoy the journey, but I just want this to end.  Better yet, could we rewind and have Seeley, King and Janin end it months ago. This issue is a confusing mess that I can't recommend to anyone and is starting to make the Nightwing fans that have been yelling at me look very smart.  They aren't smart...they just look like it right now. This book has been all over the place since the shakeup on creative teams leading into Rebirth, and i just don't really know if people know how to fill the shoes left behind in most of these books (or probably all of them). This issue sees a lot of what this story has built up towards start to unravel, or just seeing the spiral tighten (i don't know the correct metaphor for this coco banana bonkers stuff that is happening right now) but i did like the panel that was a pretty direct homage to the Dark Knight Returns silouhette cover, though this one is punctuated with a bit of BDSM where Dick shouts "i like being tied up!" The Maxwell Lord and Checkmate stuff only seemed to confuse me in this issue, because i felt like everyone was a double -agent or triple-agent and everyone was double-crossing everyone else. like- can you triple-stamp a double-stamp? i thought that Dumb and Dumber made it clear that you can't triple-stamp a double-stamp; yet here we are, double-crossing the double-crossers, octo-crossing? i don't know- i just know this story went in a BUNCH of different directions this issue. the way the story ended in this issue- teasing Grayson's conclusion before Rebirth actually redeemed a lot of the issues i had with this installment. i know it is hard to pick up all the pieces left on the board by the previous creators, because they had so many moving parts out there to wrap up this story with, and it seems like these things are going to end pretty well. i love the visuals of this story, and the book was pretty easy to follow, there is just no way on earth a story like this could have been supported long-term; i was getting lightheaded just thinking about Dr. Netz and Leviathan and all the other previous story lines that were being tied into this book. but the final issue should be something exciting and very highly anticipated leading up to Rebirth, mostly because it will usher in a new era for Dick Grayson and his (potential- do we know for cer more

I didn't think it was that bad, the action is still solid, the characters are on point. It feels a bit rushed, which is annoying, but overall, I'm excited to see the conclusion.

Nope, not as good as King/Seeley/Janin, but few comics are. It's still true to the Spyral plot and I suspect the writers are working off King's notes. I actually think for pinch hitting Lanzing and Kelly do a pretty great job, I also thought that they were some of the best voices for Batman & Robin Eternal, so I hope Rebirth gives them something to do that isn't tied to other people's plots.

After Tom King and Mikel Janin left this book, DC essentially torpedoed this series. This title showed that you can change the status quo and create an excellent story. Even skeptical fans that hated the idea of not having Dick as Nightwing eventually jumped on board. Now it's barely resembling the issues I was reading a few months earlier. Having grown used to Janin's amazing pencils, the new art is very jarring. And the story feels so disconnected from all the buildup from previous issues that I sometimes feel lost with the incoherent plot. I dunno, I get this series is ending but the fact that it started with a bang and is ending with a whimper is very disappointing.

this series started so good but now it just kinda sucks! . . . it just goes to show what you get for being a loyal fan of any DC series. . . . they make promises of giving you quality stories, and then they kick you right in the ass!!! . . . this isn't a bad issue, but it's far from great. . . . . . another reason i am greatly disappointed is the pointless 'ROBIN WAR'!!! it served NO purpose but to sell more issues! ... at the very end of Robin War it specifically said "continued in the pages of 'Grayson'. . . . . WHERE??? there's been NO mention of the Robin War OR the court of owls! not that i really mind as Robin War was garbage and the court of owls is overrated. (see how the Owls are treated in Batman #51 or Endgame) . . . but why was te everyone's time with the cross-over? . . . . . . thus adding yet another strike against DC! . . . . and seeing Dick ride up to an isolated fortress in the middle of the arctic snow just brought back horrific memories to the finale of that miserable Batman & Robin Eternal! >.< more
