Flash #9

I miss Barry. I know it sounds silly but the last few issues have focused more on Wally and his new persona (which is awesome) but I want to know what's going on in Barry Allen's world. I mean, he just put one of his best friends in Iron Heights, his girlfriend was killed, and he even had a speed force melt down but we haven't really seen the effect on him. Hopefully we'll get a good look soon. Always ready for the next chapter. Read Full Review

An amazing issue that has delivered a lot of items that Ive been waiting for: the meeting of the former and current Kid Flashes, more Rebirth hints, and the promised return of the Golden Age Flash. I could hardly ask for anything more from a single regular issue. Read Full Review

I did enjoy this issue, and it feels like it was made as a buffer for the next arc. This is very much about the two versions of Wally West, and them meeting and learning a bit about each other. It is obvious that Williamson is trying to stay faithful to the rich history of The Flash, while also trying to move the series forward. I am very optimistic with him on this book so far, and I look forward to seeing where we will be with the fastest man alive in a year from now. This book didn't feel like it was going as fast as the other issues, no pun intended. That is a good thing. Every now and then, it's good to get an issue that slows down everything a little, and yes that pun is intended. Read Full Review

This was an okay issue of the Flash that was elevated by a couple huge reveals and a sense of Rebirth importance.  I wish we could get more of the three Flashes and also of Jorge Corona's art because it feels like the book is beginning to get better.  It's not there quite yet, but let's keep out fingers crossed. If The Flash #9 focused more on being it's own entity rather than an exuberant chess piece, it might have been a little more entertaining. Having said that, it was still great to finally see the two Kid Flashes interact and actually talk about their back grounds and emotions in an explorative way. This standalone issue operates on a terrific premise, as the Wally Wests of the pre-Flashpoint and New 52 universes team up from the first time. Seeing the older Wally mentor his younger counterpart gives this issue a ton of heart, to the point where you have to wonder if Barry really should defer to his former sidekick in this area. Overall, The Flash #9 is another issue that I had a lot of fun reading, but also couldn't help but feel that it's something I wouldn't recommend if I wasn't so attached to the property. There's just a lot of odd pacing issues, and some really clunky dialogue that doesn't feel like Williamson's usually skilled pen. I won't lie, I look forward to the title every month and find at least something to keep me entertained and coming back for more, especially as I feel it's building to something great with the Rebirth stuff, though I feel a lot of that is my personal bias for the franchise. There are certainly worse comics out there, and I still fall into the "liking it" camp, but I can't help but feel the book isn't reaching the full potential it could. Read Full Review

This issue displays the beginning of the Flash family being rebuilt, with it reminding people of why Wally is one of the more beloved characters. It will be interesting to see where it leads and which new characters it introduces.

Excellent issue that would be rated higher but I'm just not a huge fan of the overly cartoony stylized art. The last page, though, is simply awesome and certainly a must see for anyone remotely interested in Rebirth and where it's all heading.

So Barry rebuilds a bridge?? Last I checked Barry wasn't an engineer and does he now have Superman level srength in order to lift the steel to build the bridge? I'm being over critical here, but I at least like some plausibility in my comics. Not a bad issue. I enjoyed the discussion with Wally and Barry and the last page was pretty cool.

I was really put off by the art but the story was sweet. Loved seeing the two Wallys meet and should lead to a very interesting relationship.

Although they tried their best to explain things I had to spend ten minutes reading wiki entries to appreciate this issue. Definitely for the long time fans and not new Rebirth guys like me.

Art is so terrible it nearly runs the book. Isn't there someone else to put in this historic book? Ugh.
