When a young and rambunctious Diana, along with her trusty goat Phyllis, accidentally destroys the painstaking preparations for a festival celebrating the story of Hero-the first hero in Greek mythology-she must embark on a painful journey to clean up her mess. But with the help of the Amazons' vivid yet unreliable retellings of Hero's story, what starts out as a boring chore becomes an epic adventure! Grace Ellis, the New York Times bestselling co-creator of Lumberjanes, and celebrated artist Penelope Rivera Gaylord tell the story of a young Diana discovering the truth about being a hero.

Diana and the Hero's Journey is a heartwarming and charming take on the title character's early days. Highly recommended for young readers and grown-ups alike. Read Full Review

Overall, this is a very cute story that pays tribute to the larger Amazon culture in a way we don't see too often. It is very much geared towards kids, lacking the dramatic momentum of the Hales' Young Diana stories, and its Diana can be a little much at times. But its unique take on the nature of oral storytelling and the way one story can be completely different in the hands of different storytellers is easily the best part of the book. Ellis is a wildly talented creator, and I'm particularly excited to see her make her mark at DC. Read Full Review
