Dark Knight News - Steve J Ray
Jun 28, 2017This issue is perfect. I read all the reviews my colleagues write and many of them rave, quite correctly, about the books they cover. Issue by issue Detective Comics just delivers and delivers. I can't fault a thing that this creative team does. Even the fill-in issues with guest artists are A++ quality, so the regular epics with a consistent team are comic-book clinics. Detective Comics is regularly the epitome of "How to make great comics". Read Full Review

The series remains a favourite of mine as it continues to expand upon exactly what it means to work with Batman and the repercussions that frequently follow. This book continues to be at the top of my reading pile on comic book day, and honestly deserves a higher score than I have available to me. Read Full Review

Lyles Movie Files - Jeffrey Lyles
Jun 28, 2017Intelligence has not so surprisingly been an engrossing read. Tynion manages to tell the story in such a natural way that it ends without the usual tells the cliffhanger is coming. The arc is two issues in, but Tynion and Martinez have laid the arc out so smoothly it doesn't seem like it's going to overstay its welcome anytime soon. Read Full Review

Jun 27, 2017Detective Comics is back on track and I am glad to be back on the trolley. Tynion adds Zatanna to the Detective Squad and she immediately steals the show and the Alvaro Martinez's art makes it all look great. If you have jumped off this book, this is the time to get back on. Read Full Review

Jul 12, 2017Batman continues to hold his place at the top of my hero list…. this comic fleshes out the man behind the cowl some more and I like him even more for that fact. It's somewhat surprising just how much story has been put into these pages… we have a whole deep conversation between Batman and Zatanna… we have the team learning more about Azrael and the Azrael suit. Comicsverse - Aaron Young
Jun 28, 2017DETECTIVE COMICS #959 is a strong addition to a terrific run by James Tynion IV. It reintroduces strong, new characters while developing returning ones. The art by Alvaro Martinez and Raul Fernandez continues to be a hallmark for DC in general. Tynion is simply planting seeds for the future but so far "Intelligence" is an exciting arc for DETECTIVE COMICS. Read Full Review

Jun 28, 2017The new arc is becoming one to really look forward to and look out what will happen next. What Batman shows to Zatanna and what Azrael sees in his room in the final panel has made this comic a must read to find out what is next. Only negative thing I have is that the fight was too short, only leaving Batman to shine and Batwoman not feel as a leader. Read Full Review

Jul 10, 2017While James Tynion IV continues to play it coy as to what Bruce really wants from his old friend, it is terrific to see Zee back in action (although I have wonder what Batman's new fiance thinks about spending his nights with magical former flames in fishnets). Worth a look. Read Full Review

Batman-News - Brandon Mulholand
Jun 28, 2017While this issue has its fair share of missed opportunities and questionable narrative choices, I nevertheless found it quite enjoyable. Much of that is due to the outstanding artwork presented by Martinez, but it would be unfair of me to not also compliment Tynion for hitting the mark more often than he missed it. All-in-all, it's a descent story that continues to lay the groundwork for what will hopefully be remembered as Tynion's Ode to Azrael. Read Full Review
