I wanted to spoil this whole comic in this review but I actually went back and read it again in the middle of writing this and knew in my comic heart that I couldn't do it. The whole League of Shadows arc has been gripping. I wanted to, in overly exciting fanboy mode, go through each panel of this comic and tell you between deep breaths how dope this book is. Hopefully you've been reading along with the Detective Comics storyline and hopefully you've already gotten in your Batmobile or Batcopter and are now speeding your way to the comic book store. Tynion hints he's taking Batman and company down a different path for the next big arc. Considering the topic that should prove very interesting. This whole storyline was fun and it really let barely used, Cassandra Cain, shine. I think this put a lot of character back on track, and added some great lore to the world of Batman. My only problem is with how weak the League of Shadows turned out to be. This story become more about highlighting Cass and her relationship with Lady Shiva, but it killed some of the momentum the league had. Still, this issue had great art and a very good story. A lo of the bat family have roles here but Tynion really does the readers a favour focusing on Cassandra, flushing out her character. She is a bit of an enigma like many characters gracing the bat family but she has true charm and charisma. Her dialogue with Shiva as they fight is some strong writing in my opinion. It is a beautiful end to a year-long story has shown us both the best and the worst things that our favorite and most tortured-heroes are capable of. This world is one of complex morality and compromise" no decision these characters make is without consequence. It's a story that, for all its comic book trappings, reflects our reality. In the last issue, we saw Cassandra Cains rise back to glory. Bringing the entire team back from the brink and now putting them face to face with Shiva. While we do see the scuffle between the team and Shiva here, ultimately it is again about Cassandra. Read Full Review

The finale to detective comics was okay, but it did leave a little bit to be desired. I wanted a showdown between Cassandra and Lady Shiva, but instead I got one where Bruce and the rest of his team were involved. We got some cryptic messages about Ra's Al Ghul and his future plans for Gotham, but not much was really revealed. Overall, it was a semi-decent story that left more questions than answers. After such a long setup, this issue was just disappointing.  The story and art were both sub par and instead of getting me excited, just had me wishing I hadn't invested the time I did with the other five issues.  If you have been reading, I'm sure you'll finish the arc, but I may have to reevaluate if I want to continue on from here. All in all, this issue was more of a disappointment than it was an enjoyment. It was mostly setup, which a conclusion should not have but so little of. On top of that, the art did its job and I enjoyed it more than the writing, but it was not enough to outshine it by any measure. Hopefully this is just an example of what it looks like when an issue is rushed to meet a bi-weekly deadline and the next arc will unravel a little more naturally. We will see. Read Full Review

I can't say that I was really all that satisfied with this finale. That's largely due to the fact that our heroes feel woefully irrelevant to the overall outcome. Couple that with the fact that the resolutions feel either rushed or completely absent, and now you've got a story that's failing to deliver on both character progression and significance. The story also wraps up far too easily and quickly for my taste, as if they ran out of time or (more likely) decided to save the truly good stuff for future issues. Ultimately, this story is nothing more than a prelude and disappointingly incomplete in and of itself. I'm sure this was meant to get people pumped for the stories to come, but in a way, I actually ended up feeling cheated. Read Full Review

The League of Shadows story has been very boring to me with this finale not helping that problem whatsoever. I hope the next story will not be to Spoiler heavy, but based on the name I think I will have to get used to it. I just wish there was more of whatever is missing from this arc.

A solid conclusion to the "League of Shadows" story arc. The standout for me was the Marcio Takara art, which looks great and fits the mood of the book well, in my opinion.

Bats and Orph can't beat Shiva. The bad guy Ra's kills her and gets his way. Batwoman fails and Clayface 'runs away'. Wing and Az are BOTH assigned to bomb detail they can't and don't handle afterall. Not very inspiring for a finale which outweighs the positives that may or may not have been there - like the exciting panel layouts.

This issue, again, was very disappointing. Art is not the greatest and Tynion spends more time hinting at future storylines than the current arc. The ending of this arc felt very sudden.

This arc seemes to have been an issue or two too long. While the writing was ok here it just seemed to re-tell what the previous two issues had already told us and then just wrap everything up so quickly there was no weight to it. It was almost like one page a massive battle was taking place then the next it was over and they were moving on the the next arc. The art is terrible in this issue. I get it may be the artists "style" but it looked extremely simple and lazily drawn. No details on characters awkward rough lines just a total mess in my opinion. This arc started with such energy and impact only to land with a massive thud. Hopefully they can get a little more focused and the next arcs will really impress.
