Lyles Movie Files - Jeffrey Lyles

Batman gets to navigate through a deathtrap and resume his investigation into the House of Two-Face. As strong as the story is, Brad Walkers art is incredible. With inks by Andrew Hennesy, Walkers pages look amazing as he has such a skill for providing the most cinematic angles and dynamic action sequences. Andersons colors really pop in this issue from the scarring on Two-Faces body to the green hues of acid. Its a captivating visual treat. Read Full Review

If you've been enjoying Tomasi on Detective, you know this is the real thing. I've you're still not sure…this is a fine issue to give a try! The entire creative team show what they're capable of in Detective Comics #1022. The classic approach goes a long way, and the emphasis on character is superb! It captures Batman, Gotham and its denizens in a meaningful, emotive and timeless manner! Read Full Review

The story here is fantastic. Tomasi is at the top of his game. The art by Brad Walker is nothing short of stunning. This is only getting better and I am so happy that this book is back. And man, I really can't wait for that next issue to hit the stands. Read Full Review

I loved it! The art is just incredible, and the way the art is shown and the story is told through the paneling is great. Batman pulling himself out of a vat of acid and just being a menace and a badass made me want to cheer out loud, but I'd get a weird look from my wife. There's a quick part with kids at a children's hospital that was a nice moment. And the Joker, New 52 style? Outstanding. Read Full Review

Dark Knight News - Steve J Ray

Just what is the Joker planning? How does Harvey fit into those schemes? How much will Batman's dry cleaning bill come to after being dunked in boiling acid? Some of these questions or less may not be answered next issue. Until then, I think I'll re-read the previous two chapters and Detective Comics #1022 again. Read Full Review

    AIPT - David Brooke

Come for the acid bath, but stay for the bigger implications of Joker. I was shocked to see Joker pop up, but it does inform the story a bit, albeit a little late into this story arc. Read Full Review

This title has always suffered a bit from the problem that its stories are usually side stories to the main Bat-stories in other titles. Read Full Review

If there's anything you can say about Detective Comics #1022, it's that penciler Brad Walker, inker Andrew Hennessey, and colorist Brad Anderson draw the absolute hell out of this book. Read Full Review

The Batman Universe - Theodis Wright

As we get closer to the event, I am hopeful that we will finally see the two books (if not the entirety of the TBU titles) line up with one another again. Things have been out of whack for quite a while, which could make reading quite nerve-whacking. Read Full Review

Honestly, it's not a bad issue at all. It's just not as good as the previous installments. Maybe Tomasi deliberately wants to pull a 180 to shock us here, but it feels cheap and too sudden. It takes me out of the story that I've been enjoying up to this point, as it's a hard break from the established tone. I just hope that the next issue will prove me wrong. Read Full Review

This is just a messy story arc and it looks like it'll get messier given the comic's intention to tie into Batman's "Joker War." Read Full Review
