While I like that we were able to get onto a different story line, I felt like there wasn't much of a story here yet. It is quite possible that they are building to something, and I like the introduction to a new villain, but find myself still thinking back to issue #1 and the status of the Joker. Read Full Review

I'm not going to say that Detective Comics is out of the woods. In fact, this series is still on a very short leash in my book. I will say, however, that I enjoyed this issue. It's full of tropes and isn't what the series initially represented itself to be, but this book's action and the quality of its artwork make this story feel more substantive than previous issues. This issue also continues the Two-Face back-up story that has been in previous issues. The back-up story wasn't my favorite part of this issue, and it would've been better if the main story was the main focus throughout the issue. Overall, the main story sets up an arc that has potential to be better than the brief Penguin encounter or the Dollmaker saga, but it's still not good enough to justify paying $3.99, especially when that extra buck comes from the absolutely idiotic Two-Face backup tale. Read Full Review

On the positive side, Ed Benes' art is pretty good. Not the best I've seen from him, but I think he's just made some stylistic changes to his work, it looks a bit "scratchy" if I had to put my finger on it. What really helps is Tomeu Morey's colors, which really keep the consistency between Tony Daniel's and Ed Benes' art intact. Read Full Review

"Detective Comics" on the whole has been a series that's gone up and down in quality since the relaunch, and this is unfortunately one of the weaker installments. With this issue originally being solicited as Daniel drawing the main story, I'm hoping that the art problems here merely had to do with deadlines, and that it'll come together a bit more in #11-12. For now, though, it's a rough first chapter to a new story. Read Full Review
