Comic Crusaders - Andy Hall
Oct 04, 2017These and other questions are likely to become more and more irrelevant as the transformations continue. This is a really fun limited series. You really get the feeling that Ennis is getting to let loose with all the silliest ideas for ending the world that he couldn't figure out how to work into Preacher or Judge Dredd. As long as Jabberjaw will play a bigger role in the remaining four issues, I'm willing to see where he is going to take us, unless, of course, I get raptured first. Read Full Review

Comics: The Gathering - Olivier Roth
Oct 04, 2017I began the review by indicating this issue is filled with hijinks that you would typically associate with Saturday-morning cartoons, and this is more than accurate as you continue to read, and visually see through Mauricet's art, exactly what is happening to our lead characters. To wit, we have a special agent use a "toy" gun to punch literal holes in people - and they remain alive? We have shark turned into a cartoon shark. And finally, we have a punch heard around the world. Mauricet has done an excellent job at visually representing all that is happening and I like that they chose to change the style enough when the cartoony aspects are on the page. Weird Science - Jeremy Daw
Oct 04, 2017The central relationship that forms the foundation of this story is strong and entertainingly portrayed. That alone is a reason to pick up this issue. The problems with pacing notwithstanding, there's a lot of fun to be had here. Ennis' script, although a little too verbose at times, is witty and clever; Mauricet's art adds to the humour and his facial expressions are excellent. Aug 26, 2018Mauricet contributes solid visuals that are realistic but integrate the cartoony aspects of the story lightly. It would be fun if he would let himself loose a bit and just draw the crazy stuff happening. The restrain Mauricet and Ennis have is holding the comic back and not allowing it to just make fun of itself. There is not point trying to maintain realism in this comic.
