Cyborg #14

Cyborg #14 takes us right into the thick of just what the heck is going on and I feel more invested than I ever did before. We have solved some of the most nagging mysteries and we now have the full picture as to why everything has happened the way they did between Anomaly's actions and what brought everyone here. I want to give Semper a high-five, this book got me excited and for once actually interested in the next issue. I get pretty tired of hero-book troupes, but this felt like a new sinister spin. It felt like this book has been trying to find it's footing for awhile, but the last two issues have me hoping for a brighter future for Cyborg. Read Full Review

I thought Cyborg #14 was a decent issue. My only disappointment is in Anomaly's reveal of purpose, however the introduction of Cyborg's mom was a real treat. I wonder, however, if Semper may have something else in store because towards the end of the book we meet a whole new team that Cyborg has to work with to save this alternate Earth"the Metal Men! Cyborg continues to be an underwhelming book, but at least for this issue I can say that John Semper Jr. has changed up the game a bit in the way he's telling his stories because I at least found the concept to this issue interesting, even if it doesn't make a ton of sense in the long run and just throws dream sequences in to fill up page time.  The art was fun and at least we're doing something kind of new in the Cyborg book because goddamn did it feel stale as hell lately.   Read Full Review

Will Conrad is back at the drawing board, and that's a good thing. However, there is one character introduced that seems so obviously based on Alfre Woodard. In general, I like his art, and I like the digital effects he uses " sparingly " to convey Cyborg's optical input. I feel it's effective, but that's not a license to go crazy with it. This was a great read. The story along with the art was almost perfection. The first few pages neatly sewed in a plot thread from issue # 1 of Cyborg. The only minus in my estimation were the dialogue and exchanges between some of the characters such as Cyborg and his alternate world mother Eleanor seemed monotone and without individual voices. Otherwise a great summer read.
