It's an interesting choice to make Renee not a fan of Batman (which seems to conflict a bit with established continuity on the show). But when the Muscle kidnaps Montoya's girlfriend, and leads Renee into a death trap, the detective will need all the help she can get. Read Full Review

Awesome comic! Felt so much like an episode and of the show, I was hearing BTAS background music in my head as I was reading it. And how about Jordan Gibson?? I was bummed when I read about Ty Templeton’s health and that he couldn’t finish the book. Best wishes to him. But kudos to Jordan Gibson! Bruce Timm once said Mike Parobeck drew a better BTAS Batman than he did. Jordan Gibson is pretty damn close. Guy perfectly emulates the style of the New Adventures era.

Gotta love this episodic take on events. It really allows characters on different sides of the cast to shine. Here, Renee Montoya gets some pretty impressive dynamics between her and Batman. She's capable enough for crime families to send hitmen after anyway. Plus the way Bruce has to play with timing just to be able to keep up with other is great.

Pretty good issue. The cover sure gives a different impression though. But the story is very good. It's interesting to see a new foe. It's also nice to see Detective Montoya in a major appearance again. However Burnett doesn't know her so well. She was always one of the most pro-Batman officers on the force. She had more respect on the show and in older comics, like in the episode P.O.V. when she actually saved him. In comparison to the regular Batman books of late, this was one of the more fine issues released lately. The start of this story with the former mayor also covers something interesting to develop as well.
