Batman: Eternal #43

It was great to see this comic finally get some real, fresh development in the plot. I also found the characterization to be excellent, the writing strong, and the artwork to be pretty great. Lafuente's style has a manga-ish vibe to it, but it fit the tone and feel of the issue quite well. It probably wouldn't have worked for previous issues of the series, but I did like what I saw and hope to see him do more work elsewhere. The only real negative to the issue was that I was hoping to see more beyond the stuff from Batman #28, but at least the writers put in some more twists and new angles to it. Read Full Review

Batman Eternal has served many overlapping purposes over the past year. It has provided the primary locus for celebration of Batman's 75th anniversary. It has been a venue for the introduction of new characters and the resurrection of old ones. It has allowed for the testing of new storylines. And it is the tool theBatman Office has usedto lay the foundations for the Batman Universe to come in the wake of the upcoming Convergence break. I really enjoyed this issue and just love Harper Row as Bluebird.  James Tynion and David LaFuente may have given readers the most fun this series has seen and I'm all for fun.  However, the end throws another wrench into the story and with less than ten issue left, I hope things start coming together real soon.  Recommended. Overall I enjoyed this issue; it really flowed well with the previous teaser issue and connects all of the plot lines brought up within the Batman issue. Overall with this issue, we didn't get a whole lot on the Batman front. He made his appearance, helped save the day and moved along. But what we did get was a different side to a new character, thanks to writer James Tynion IV and artist David Lafuente. It's a side I hope we see more of in the remaining 9issues of this title. "Batman Eternal" #43 continues to move the series merrily along and, with just eight issues to go, the pacing feels strong. It's nice to know that "Batman Eternal" (or something with a slightly different title but still the weekly schedule) will return later in 2015; this has been an experiment that's succeeding quite nicely. Forget all the junk with Batman, ignore the grand super-villain plot; Batman Eternal #43 is pure character development staring two amazing characters. That's going to make for good comics no matter what other mess surrounds it. Read Full Review

Definitely the best issue in a while. Really like the character dynamics with Stephanie and Harper. Just an all around fun and exciting issue.
