Batgirl #13 acts as a bit of a breather before a new arc kicks in next issue, but it also serves as a nice jumping-on point for any readers out there curious about giving writer Hope Larson's celebrated take on the character a try. Is it a fun and sweet done-in-one adventure that shows the love for the classic super-hero caper? You betcha. Batgirl #13 is delivered a fun, intimate one-shot story that fans of the series will enjoy. Hope Larson nails the dialogue between Batgirl and Catwoman as they worked on a case that was deeply personal to the latter. Involving a young girl that looks up to Batgirl shows how far our main character has come. The ending will leave fans of the series with a big smile on their face and that is exactly what we all want from a comic book we read on monthly basis to accomplish. Read Full Review

This issue was an improvement over the last installment, even if it skewed a little cutesy. This series is designed to attract a younger audience, but it has lots of good moments. I am looking forward to see the team up with Nightwing. Read Full Review

This comic book is just silly. The story is contrived, the situations unbelievable, and the main character is a simpleton. But the artwork is really something to see in this issue. So if you've got an inclination towards the visuals, or if you like laughing at silly comics, then maybe you could give it a peek. Read Full Review

This one isn't winning any prizes, but it's easy to read and well-drawn and tells a cute (albeit somewhat nonsensical) story. I feel like there's a battle of tone going on here between Larson's light-hearted script and Miranda's heavy darks throughout. For a kid's book, this works (and who doesn't love a story about a dog-napper getting her due?). But ultimately it's kind of throwaway. The best of it is Batgirl and Catwoman teaming up for a silly outing and for the adept way Larson handled that, I bumped this up a point. Read Full Review

Still, overall, Batgirl #13 makes for two in a row that are non-essential reading. You can take it or leave it, but until this series is back on its new arc with a grander adventure for Batgirl, the chance for plot development, and signs of character growth, I suggest you leave it. There are better Batgirl stories to be told, and if history is any indication they should be their way soon. Read Full Review
