All-Star Section 8 #3

While this entire series is an acquired taste, I have enjoyed it from page one. I liked this issue, but I am starting to want a little more substance with my curse words and fart jokes. While I wish that Garth Ennis would have portrayed Martian Manhunter a bit better, this issue made me laugh and the art by John McCrea was...Excellente, he, he, he. John McCrea's art shines once again, contrasting the high-minded heroism of Martian Manhunter with the gritty, grimy, downright filthy world that this team occupies. But now that we're halfway through this comic, maybe it's time to get the plot in gear? Read Full Review

I've been waiting for the plot to get moving and now I'm realizing that it's not going to happen... It seems each issue just features a JLA member feeling uncomfortable around Section 8. The gags are funny, but that's not a substitute for a narrative, I actually suspect that Garth Ennis is just cashing in a paycheck this time around. It takes a lot to make me uncomfortable, but Ennis and McCrea actually achieved it in this issue with the gleeful raping of a chivalrous sentient tape worm, as it begs for mercy. Not cool guys, intestinal parasite lives matter.
