Oct 14, 2017A conversation, a confrontation, a meeting, and a seduction make this a highly enjoyable read. More questions than answers in this issue, but it's extremely entertaining. This Jor-El is quickly becoming one of Superman's most readable foes. Read Full Review

Oct 11, 2017This has been the best chapter in the "The Oz Effect." Getting Jor-El and Jon together has humanized Jor-El and it may point to his downfall in this arc. Read Full Review

Oct 11, 2017The Oz Effect continues to bite at everything that makes Superman who he is, and the ongoing struggle against those ideals with his usual superheroics make this one of Action Comics best stories yet. Read Full Review

Oct 11, 2017The mind games are pretty strong in this issue although I'm a little leery Jurgens is repeating a plot thread from the other Superman title. Hopefully he has some different paths in mind to keep this story as fresh and unique as it's been so far. Read Full Review

Oct 12, 2017Overall this is still a very engaging story that does answer quite a few questions that people had since the beginning of Rebirth, and even if it does not seem as essential as some of other stories involving Oz, it is still very intriguing. Read Full Review

Oct 11, 2017The issue is a good one and in a way is the dark middle chapter of the trilogy. Again, I'm sure things will work out but the team is weaving a story that at first seems silly but in reality has worked out in a way that defies expectations. An entertaining read that's another excellent chapter in this exciting drama and action adventure. Read Full Review

Oct 31, 2017This comic is revealing, but not, and that makes it appealing. I am very interested in seeing what happens in the next issue, even with this issue being the least favorite of mines from "Oz Effect". Jurgens just captures the real essence of the dark side of humanity. Read Full Review

The Pop Break - Andrew
Oct 25, 2017Bogdanovic's pencils are strong at portraying scenes where action is prevalent. Luckily there is plenty of that to be had this issue, but his inconsistent facial work is still an issue. The real problem, however, is the contrast between his work and that of the art team from #988. DC's habit of holding to a bi-monthly schedule for their main books is definitely a blow to any aesthetic continuity between issues. Read Full Review

Oct 11, 2017While we see Jor-El doing more to achieve his "We have to leave Earth because people are shitty" goals in this issue, a lot of what goes down here seems to be just a rehash of what we've seen previously in this arc. With that though, the art in this issue is great and a new element to the agents of Oz was presented here and it gets me a bit more curious about what we'll see in the next coming issues. On Comics Ground - Scott Shuken
Oct 11, 2017What this issue had that the others lacked, however, was a single plotline. The story involving Lois and the terrorist was topical and at least somewhat tense, and had something to pay attention to that wasn't just filler for another semi-startling reveal. Read Full Review

Comic Book Bin - Philip Schweier
Oct 11, 2017However, the story is moving slower than I'd like, which is typical. I grew up in the age of Wolfman/Perezs New Teen Titans, Now THERE was some dense storytelling, which Iwould like to see more of these days. But until those two legends can be harnessed into another ongoing series, I'll have to content myself with back issues. Read Full Review

Oct 11, 2017Action Comics #989 does have some interesting ideas in it admittedly, but unfortunately it feels like the ideas are not fully fleshed or executed well. These things may be improved on in the next issue, but so far in the Oz effect I am finding it underwhelming, as it retraces common tropes and clichés. Read Full Review
