The issue is a good one and in a way is the dark middle chapter of the trilogy. Again, I'm sure things will work out but the team is weaving a story that at first seems silly but in reality has worked out in a way that defies expectations. This comic is revealing, but not, and that makes it appealing. I am very interested in seeing what happens in the next issue, even with this issue being the least favorite of mines from "Oz Effect". Jurgens just captures the real essence of the dark side of humanity. Read Full Review

Bogdanovic's pencils are strong at portraying scenes where action is prevalent. Luckily there is plenty of that to be had this issue, but his inconsistent facial work is still an issue. The real problem, however, is the contrast between his work and that of the art team from #988. DC's habit of holding to a bi-monthly schedule for their main books is definitely a blow to any aesthetic continuity between issues. Read Full Review

While we see Jor-El doing more to achieve his "We have to leave Earth because people are shitty" goals in this issue, a lot of what goes down here seems to be just a rehash of what we've seen previously in this arc.  With that though, the art in this issue is great and a new element to the agents of Oz was presented here and it gets me a bit more curious about what we'll see in the next coming issues.   Read Full Review

What this issue had that the others lacked, however, was a single plotline. The story involving Lois and the terrorist was topical and at least somewhat tense, and had something to pay attention to that wasn't just filler for another semi-startling reveal. Read Full Review

However, the story is moving slower than I'd like, which is typical. I grew up in the age of Wolfman/Perezs New Teen Titans, Now THERE was some dense storytelling, which Iwould like to see more of these days. But until those two legends can be harnessed into another ongoing series, I'll have to content myself with back issues. Read Full Review

Action Comics #989 does have some interesting ideas in it admittedly, but unfortunately it feels like the ideas are not fully fleshed or executed well. These things may be improved on in the next issue, but so far in the Oz effect I am finding it underwhelming, as it retraces common tropes and clichés. Read Full Review

While this was a bit less eventful than the previous issues so far, it's still a good read. Mr Oz seems more villainous than before, and I am interested to see what's next.

I wasn't sold on the whole Superman's Dad thing, but this arc has developed into a real page-turner, with a nice emotional conflict that fits well into the rebirth era's theme of cynicism vs hope. At the moment I'm really enjoying this book.

Lots of story elements, revelations, action and character developement, but it all feels like its missing heart. The story hardly justifies all the trouble Oz went though since the new 52 to place all of his pawns into place. All this for...having Superman and his family leave earth with him to be happy? I don't know, I'm not buying it. A great masterplan for so little. Here's hoping everything is cleared up soon as Oz talk the talk, but doesn't walk it so much. The art is ok, but not great. I was expecting a bit more from this Arc, but there are still enough issues left to redeem it all.

I like the art, he lighter the atmosphere. For the story, i like more Lois one than Clark et Jon's one. I didn't understand Jon at all in this issue. For new I didn't see him as someone tired of hiding who he is. The fact they cut off the rest of the justice league make no sense too. With all that happen they would have bee easy too put them on some mission but explaining they aren't enough too be all around the world. The story left me with doubt. For now I will leave the title at the end of this arc-story.

Man, this story arc is uneven. I praised last issue, but this one had some problems. I get that Jurgens is weaving in current events like workplace shootings, the Syrian chemical weapons attack, a shot at Trump with the fake news commentary, etc to show the dark side of humanity, but it's to on the nose and I wasn't expecting the Oz storyline to end up being social commentary; especially with the huge build up to finding out who Oz was. Jonathan was written and drawn totally out of character, too. He's much smarter than that. Jurgens wrote him like he was naive and the art makes him look 5, not a pre teen.

can't get over just how awful the art is. utter and complete garbage. oh, and yet another story where someone tries to lure Jon to the dark side. Is this their only idea?
